13 Services First National Bank of Illinois Provides That You Probably Didn’t Know About

When you think of bank services, you probably think of deposits, loans, and mortgages, and at most banks that would make up the majority of what they offer. As a community bank, we do things differently. Not only can you expect an actual human being to answer the phone when you call, we also put our words into action with services that go beyond the bare essentials of banking:

  1. Foreign currency
We buy and sell currencies from around the world for our customers coming and going from foreign countries (see our Platinum Adventures® group) or students studying abroad. If we don’t have it in-branch, one of our other branches will send it to us when a request is made.

  2. Notary services
We can provide free signature verification to our customers, including off-site if necessary, to aid in the completion of important documents such as wills, trusts, or passport applications.

  3. Medallion Guarantee Stamp
Different from a notarization which certifies an authentic signature, this service requires a more thorough screening and is typically used for scenarios when securities are being transferred. Both the medallion guarantee and notarization can only be provided by bank personnel with the proper certification, so asking in advance to ensure a licensed individual will be available is a good idea.

  4. Safe deposit boxes1
While other banks have dropped this service, most of our branches still offer them to account holders who need a secure place to store important documents, heirlooms, or other valuables

  5. Free coin counting2
Customers and community members can bring change to the bank and turn it into paper bills with our Coin King counter.

  6. One-on-one financial education
As part of our Money Smart program, we have financial education resources offering guidance on topics for all age ranges. No appointment is required.

  7. Free shred events3
Check our calendar and watch our social channels for your next chance to shred sensitive documents at one of the many shred events we hold.

  8. Cash advances from a credit card
Typically reserved for emergencies, this is something we can assist our customers with when immediate access to cash is a necessity.

  9. We help balance checkbooks
We’re happy to assist customers when this tedious task gets frustrating, perplexing, or just exhausting.

  10. Platinum Adventures travel program
For customers 50 or better, this very popular program takes members on trips near and far for great times and new connections.

  11. Free bank tours to scout troops or schools
This is a hands-on way to learn about banking, what a banker’s job is like each day, and what role neighborhood banks play in their community.

  12. Junior Savers Club® and Teen Banking Club®
Our free clubs get our young customers involved in their community and active at events like ice skating, baseball games, zoo trips, or ice cream at the branch.

  13. Home Equity Lines of Credit
Our experienced bankers can help you borrow against the value of your home and get the funds you need for home improvements or other significant expenses.

Stop by your bank branch for these services and more. Walk-ins are welcome, no appointment is required. You’ll find coffee in the lobby and maybe even a treat for you or your pet. If your old bank’s lobby chased you away, come see how customer appreciation looks at a true community bank

We also provide free ATMs4 nationwide with accounts like Total Access Checking, which has no monthly minimum balance or maintenance fees, only $100 required to open, and a $300 bonus to start with after qualifying activities. Open online in minutes!
